Zach Northern
Hey everyone! I grew up on the banks of the Clinch River in SWVA where I developed a passion for the outdoors. I was introduced to hunting and fishing at a very young age. Most of my childhood was spent in the woods and on the water with my dad and grandfather. In my early teenage years I developed a love for chasing smallmouth bass on the Clinch. A few years later I started to venture onto some local creeks and learned to target trout on the fly. It was a good change of pace compared to targeting smallmouth with conventional gear. Once I matured, I began to hone my skills fishing for wild trout on pressured streams and rivers, eventually leading me into competition fly fishing. It has taken me to some incredible fisheries, and has forced me to become more versatile and study on approach. These competitions have allowed me to build a vast guide network, and continuously stay up to date on the latest industry technology. Outside of a competitive atmosphere, fly fishing is so much more than a sport; it’s a peaceful escape for a vast majority of folks. I’m so grateful to share my experiences through fly fishing, teaching, and educating folks about our fisheries and wildlife. I look forward to seeing you on the water!
Vincent Alderete
Hello, my name is Vincent, but my friends call me Vince. I wear many hats in addition to being a fly fishing guide and self professed trout but. I am a husband, father to two boys, and Trauma Surgery PA. My love for fishing started as a young child in south Florida where I would fish the canal in our backyard for largemouth, peacock bass, and oversized panfish. When my family moved, I continued to chase anything that swims in the lakes, ponds, and rivers of my new home in North Carolina. In middle school, my obsession for fly fishing took off. I caught my first trout on a fly at the Smith River in Virginia, a tailwater that still holds a special place in my heart today. As I continued to grow on my fly fishing journey I began taking friends and family out on the water. As the requests became more numerous, I started guiding professionally and I absolutely love sharing my passion for fishing with others. My goal for each trip is to help clients learn, develop new skills, catch fish, and most importantly, enjoy a day on the water. When fishing for pleasure, you can usually find me euro nymphing or streamer fishing and I would be happy to help you learn or improve upon these techniques. If you prefer fishing indicators, dry dropper, or single dry flies, I’ve got you covered. With over 25 years of experience in all of these techniques, I can provide a customized experience for each of my clients to help them be successful on the water during our time together and more importantly, as they continue their own fly fishing journey. I look forward to spending time on the water with you, and can’t wait to be your guide.
Blake Hall
Hey! My name is Blake. I began fly fishing at age 10 but I have fished my whole life. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up on the banks of a phenomenal trout stream in Southwest Virginia and that began my passion for fishing. Growing up so close to trout has enabled me to fish a ton and learn so many cool things about fly fishing in a short amount of time. Through my teenage years I began competitive fly fishing and have visited many unique places and met so many amazing people. In my time competing for the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team I have won three national championships and three team World Championships. I’ve been guiding for a few years around my home waters in Virginia but over the last year I’ve expanded to guiding the famed East Tennessee tailwaters as well. Both areas are excellent fisheries and are very diverse offering opportunities to pursue trout using many different methods throughout the day. I can’t wait to help create an unforgettable trip for you. See you out there!
